Hi, I’m Kellie
Owner and the creative mind behind Twisted Tulip Designs. I've tried my hand at many careers on my way to finding my creative happy place, including teaching, marketing, IT training and my longest career as a Detective in the Met.
As soon as I started to retrain in floristry, I knew that I wanted to make show stopping creations for weddings and be a part of someone's special day in a unique and special way. I am a hopeless romantic so I set to focus my training and business in wedding and events.
Since then, along the way, I managed to accidently buy a flower shop, I went to view it and fell in love so instead of my log cabin in the bottom of the garden, I now run both businesses from there. I have an amazing team now who run the shop for the majority of the week, allowing me to focus on weddings and events.
What’s your favourite season? Mine is…
“I’m going to buck the trend here a little and tell you that Summer is my absolute favourite season for flowers rather than the more common answer of Spring. Not that I don’t adore spring flowers – there’s a reason that tulip is in the business name after all – and the neutrals and rich colours of autumn are spectacular, and I can’t get enough of the freshness of winter blooms. However, Summer brings flowers of extraordinary textures. The ruffles of peonies, the airiness of Nigella, the perfect crinkliness of Sweet peas and the delicateness of Cosmos all make bouquets come to life and dance and I just cannot get enough.”
My Approach
I can’t wait to meet you at our first consultation, usually done over zoom so we can get to know each other and make a connection. I want to hear all about your love story so I can build up a picture of you. We will discuss what you like and want for your big day as well as what you don’t like and don’t want, which I find is almost more important to help me understand your vision.
After this initial consultation I will go away and come up with a design and proposal for your wedding flowers based on our discussion and my research and knowledge of your venue.
Rather than just sending you the proposal, I like to have a short call with you in order to go through line by line together and ensure that I have encapsulated all your wants and needs. We can then make any adjustments there and then and I will be on hand to answer any queries that you have.
Once you are then happy with the proposal, I ask for a non-refundable booking fee which then holds your date. Contracts are signed and then we are well and truly on our way. We will maintain contact along the way and I’m of course on hand to answer any queries you have by email.
In the lead up to your wedding we have another meeting, in person if possible, which is where we finalise everything and go through the logistics for your wedding day. Then that’s it. You can sit back and relax and enjoy the lead up to your wedding knowing that my team and I will be prepping away to bring my designs for your vision to life.
I love to work with couples who believe flowers are so much more than just the finishing touches of a wedding; they are an integral part of creating the atmosphere and experience for couples and their guests that will be spoken about for years to come.
